EGNYTE Announces New Collaboration Features for BIM Files

Egnyte provides integrated solutions for collaboration, data security, compliance, and threat detection for multicloud businesses.

The company announces enhancements to its BIM file collaboration capabilities and an expansion of its AEC project delivery and closing workflows.

Egnyte, a leader in cloud content governance and security, has established quite a few new capabilities for BIM file collaboration to its Egnyte for Architecture, Construction, Engineering and product offering.

Egnyte's AEC Leadership Summit, a virtual conference discussing data management in the AEC industry, featured AEC-specific features, including improved support for BIM files and integrated integration with Procore construction management software.

Integrating solutions and practices into day to day work

During the beginning of the summit, The Vice president of AEC of Egnyte, Ronen Vengosh, took note that practices taken on during the pandemic have been integrated into regular business.

Additionally, BIM solutions are increasingly woven into all phases of a project, from planning and design to construction and operations; as a result, there has been an explosion of digital data in the industry.

Ronen Vengosh said that “On average, Egnyte’s AEC customers have seen a 31% CAGR for the amount of data stored from 2017 to 2021,”

By providing these new offerings to the AEC customers, they are enabling them to extract the maximum value from all their data while maintaining security - protecting them against ransomware threats, added Vengosh.

What new capabilities will the BIM file collaboration offer?

The new capabilities will include the following:

  1. BIM file search allows team members to search on and "inside" specialized BIM files, such as CAD drawings, to find the right documents quickly.
  2. BIM file preview gives the user the ability to preview files without the use of specialized software. A user can also rotate, zoom, and measure a document in real-time.
  3. Improved project lifecycle management The improved project lifecycle management makes it easier than ever to end projects and revoke unnecessary permissions once they are completed.
  4. New Expanded Procone integration will now enable almost perfect real-time continuous sync, which provides faster access to files and in improving collaboration between different organizations and within other integral teams.

Additionally, Egnyte recently announced that its Advanced Ransomware Detection and Recovery capabilities are now included in all Egnyte for AEC plans following research that showed AEC firms are twice as likely to receive a ransomware attack as other industries. The result is that Egnyte for AEC customers can now quickly restore lost data in the event of an attack.
