VectorWorks launches Unity-based 3D model viewer

VectorWorks is an architect program that is a very versatile, on-premise program that has the ability to provide substantial 2D drafting, 3D modelling, BIM and other rendering capabilities for any architectural or landscape design.

VectorWorks, Inc has recently released its third service pack for its Vectorworks 2022 product line. The main focus of the launch was on improvements to the VectorWorks cloud services, which are all for the design needs of customers.

Other major highlights from this launch of their updated product line are the new storage integrations with VectorWorks Cloud, new updates to the Datasmith file exchange from a direct link to Twinmotion and enabled support for .glTF inside the MVR export from Vectorworks Spotlight.

Vectorworks Users Get a Good Experience on Cloud and Mobile Platforms Thanks to Significant Re-Engineering

The new major enhancements to Vectorworks Cloud Service include a new storage integration with Microsoft Onedrive.

There are significant improvements with the integrations with Google Drive and a direct connection of the Nomad mobile application with the iOS files app.

Users can now access and process files directly from their preferred cloud storage solution, saving time and enabling easier access to existing file structures.

Furthermore, region-specific cloud storage will improve the performance of Cloud sync and file uploads and downloads.

The Vectorworks Cloud now allows customers to process renderings of their files using the Redshift render styles.

With iOS devices, designers can take advantage of the latest LiDAR technology to scan and create point clouds within their mobile devices.

A more robust and faster experience is provided by using unity 3D model viewing technology.

The implementation of the Unity game engine as a platform that enables 3D, AR and web viewing for 3D models will enable the user to deliver a faster, more robust experience to anyone who is navigating or viewing 3D designs of any size on the internet and thorough their mobile application, Nomad as said by the Director of Product and Technology of VectorWorks, Dave Donley.

The latest VectorWorks and Twinmotion is more time-efficient in saving direct links.

In Vectorworks 2022 Service Pack 3, the Datasmith Direct Link tool facilitates synchronisation between Vectorworks and Twinmotion. The latest Auto Sync option instantly sends changes made to the 3D models in VectorWorks to Twinmotion is made simple by using the Datasmith Direct Link Tool.

Twinmotion's new Auto Sync feature automatically sends changes to the 3D model in Vectorworks, eliminating the need to export and import. Along with auto-sync with Twinmotion, the Datasmith export now supports data and light information so that more detailed and data-rich models are in the Unreal Engine editor.

.glTF support broadens collaboration opportunities and simplifies product exchanges

An update will also be provided to the MVR workflow in Vision and Vectorworks Spotlight. It will include the latest .glTF/.glb file format .glTF/.glb file format to make use of the most up-to-date technology while also conforming to DIN Spec 15800:2022.

This latest integration will also broaden the use of the MVR file format for easy collaboration and project information exchange.

The new Service Pack 3 also has included numerous workflow enhancements for ConnectCAD; furthermore, the latest fixes for enhanced quality for Vectorworks Spotlight and support for PosiStageNet (PSN) in Vision is also pushed in the update.

It is available as a free update for all of U.S. English-based versions of Vectorworks 2022, including Vectorworks Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Fundamental, Braceworks, ConnectCAD and Vision. To install, select "Check for Updates" from the Vectorworks menu (Mac) or Help menu (Windows).
