How BIM program streamlines the facility management process for the biggest hydroelectric power station plants in Latin America

ENGworks, a globally recognized Building Information Modeling (BIM) service and solutions provider, together with the University of Misiones, has utilized YouBIM software on the biggest hydroelectric power station plants in Latin America.

YouBIM refers to 'Software as a Service' (SaaS) Cloud-based solution that expands all the value of BIM throughout the facilities management system. ENGworks incorporates IBM Maximo with YouBIM. Maximo is the existing CMMS system applied for maintenance.

YouBIM facilitates the owners to have an incorporated database and immediate access to facility information with an easy-to-navigate web-based 3D/BIM interface. YouBIM can be defined as an online 6D application.

YouBIM can obtain all those diverse data sources and simultaneously integrate them under one online navigation model providing access to all the OEM and maintenance records appended.

The length of the dam is about 2,600 ft. (800 m2) and the equipment that is set up previously, contains maximum power output of 3,100 megawatts (4,200,000 hp), having a record maximum annual power output of 20.000 TWh.

Initially, ENGworks develops a REVIT As-Built model to streamline the facility maintenance processes. At present related data is stored in IBM Maximo to a certain extent and partly separated as a result it requires to be collected and organized.

By executing BIM for FM solution on the whole plant, the facility operators will be able to avail their asset data as well as location instantly to enhance the effectiveness of the maintenance department by minimizing equipment failures which requires repairing works in emergency. In due course, it will extend the longevity of the equipments through superior protective maintenance and fewer equipment replacements.
